Deep Roots in Scripture
We aim to be a church where biblical teaching is understandable, practical, and faithful to the Lutheran confession of salvation by grace through faith in Jesus Christ.
Grace received in Christ becomes grace shared with neighbours, families, and the wider prairie community.
Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Congregation exists to proclaim Jesus Christ clearly, gather people around Word and Sacrament, and send believers into daily life with confidence in God's mercy. In a rural setting like Tilley, the church is not only a place for Sunday worship. It is also a place of listening, care, prayer, and faithful presence.
"To proclaim the crucified and risen Christ, nurture disciples through Scripture and Sacrament, and serve our rural neighbours with steadfast grace, humility, and hope."
We understand the church as a community formed by God's action before our own. The Gospel announces what Christ has done for sinners. The congregation responds with worship, repentance, thanksgiving, and service. That pattern shapes every ministry at Bethany, from Sunday liturgy to pastoral visitation and intergenerational fellowship.
We want Bethany to remain a spiritually grounded, visibly hospitable congregation where longtime members and first-time visitors alike encounter the peace of Christ and a meaningful place to belong.

Children, youth, adults, and seniors all need spaces to grow. Our vision includes mentoring relationships, family discipleship, and strong habits of worship across generations.
We seek to be known in the Tilley area as a congregation that shows up, prays faithfully, shares burdens, and serves with quiet consistency.
Our ministry is guided by convictions that have sustained Lutheran congregations for centuries. These values are not slogans. They are commitments that shape our preaching, pastoral care, teaching, and fellowship.
When people gather at Bethany, they should hear the Gospel clearly, be received with kindness, and leave strengthened for the week ahead.
Bethany's story belongs to the wider story of rural Alberta congregations that were formed by families who valued worship, prayer, and mutual care. In communities shaped by farming, distance, weather, and strong local ties, the church often became a place where both spiritual and practical support could be found.
Over the years, congregational life has likely changed in pace and scale, but not in purpose. Seasons have come and gone, families have grown, and new needs have emerged. Through it all, the call remains the same: gather in Christ's name, hear His promises, and serve the neighbour close at hand.
